Yippee!

Well, it worked! It was probably the hottest day I have ever spent outside, but we were near a large water spray. The kids cooled off in that, some of the moms did also. I got to vent, felt understood, got to knit without interruption, can you even imagine?? And even though the kids were pretty much ignored, they had a wonderful time together, splashing, running, and playing on the playground too. We even came prepared with cold water and a cooler for snacks! I got a good Mommy break and the kids got their fun too. Everyone's happy. In my concern to make sure my children are capable of making new friends, outside of playgroup, and enjoying other interests, I skipped a few playgroup days. This concern is mainly due to our potential move next summer. So, don't get me wrong, I am still interested in "branching" my children out and involving them in other groups of friends, beyond the Playgroup. But my goodness, I don't think I ever realized how much that Playgroup is for me as well as for them!
In other news, we have been sweating to death nightly in our bedroom. It is a converted attic space in our 29 year old home and the window unit a/c finally died a couple of weeks ago. And I shouldn't even call it a window unit, as there is a space that was cut out in the wall specifically for the a/c! There is an adjacent room that has a working window unit (actually in the window), but it's just too far away and hasn't helped much! So, while I was at a friend's today (switching babysitting so each of us could grocery shop alone, yahoo!!!) my husband surprised us all by going to Home Depot and buying a new a/c! It is digital, with a remote! We don't even have to get out of bed to change the temp. How awesome is that?! Hehe. All in all, a good couple of days I'd say. And lots of knitting too, I'm onto the heel of my sock and heading into the homestretch! Ed is off the next two days, so hopefully I will get enough time to myself that when he goes back to work I will feel refreshed and ready to keep on keepin' on! I really don't know how you Mama's with husbands that work out of town, or overseas, even occasionally, survive! Cheers to you!
Love, Tracee
