Socks, Snakes, and a Road Trip!

Yay!!!! I have just finished my very first PAIR of socks. :) The first one looks a little dull compared to the one I just finished. I think it's because I knit the first so tightly and really loosened up on the second. I'll have to remember to check and keep the same gauge on the next pair. On to the next pair, for Ed, which will be started on the road in the morning. We are headed down to Charleston for the day, to the beach again. The kids are extremely excited, as I will be once we get on the road. The getting up early, loading up, making sure the dog can't get into anything while we are away, and that we didn't leave anything needed behind is just very stressful for me! Mainly just the getting up early though, he-he. ;) We plan to grill out in a nice little picnic area at the entrance of the park and then spend the day in the ocean again. Actually, remembering how well our last beach trip went, I am beginning to get excited! It will just be lovely to spend the day enjoying the kids enjoying themselves in the water. We've been to lakes 4 or 5 times this summer and they love it, but I am just not as comfortable in a lake as I am in the sea. Especially not when our kind host (Hi Chris!!) begins explaining how you can tell the difference between a snake and a turtle swimming through the water. He's done this twice to me now. I am able to psyche myself into believing there isn't anything alive in the lake and there he goes telling another person the same old turtle and snake story. I can't swim like that! ROFL! I don't know why the ocean is so much different for me, I can go in knowing there are fish and other living creatures, but I am not as afraid as I am of lakes. Bet it's the snakes!
I am sure I will think of more I wish I had written tonight just as soon as my head hits the pillow, but I am making myself get into to bed and at least try to sleep so I can enjoy our beach trip tomorrow! 'Till next time, here's a really cool quote someone sent to me:

"There are two ways to slide easily through life: to believe everything or to doubt everything. Both ways save us from thinking.” - Alfred Korzybski

Love, Me
